CALGARY, Alberta and GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – August 28, 2018 – SMART Technologies Inc. with partnership from NorthPointe Christian Schools, today announced the first in a series of celebrations recognizing remarkable nominees in SMART’s #GiveGreatness Contest, which provides educators with the opportunity to nominate their colleagues for the impact they make on their school and community.
The first teacher to be celebrated from the contest is Evelyn Hamlin, 4th grade teacher from NorthPointe Christian Elementary School in Grand Rapids, Michigan. From single handedly translating curriculum for the school’s Spanish immersion program to teaching while battling cancer, Evelyn’s story is truly impactful. As a recognized nominee, Ms. Hamlin will win a SMART Board and SMART Learning Suite software. Caught on camera, Hamlin was surprised with a video and celebration assembly for her impact and inspiration to those around her.

As teachers across the country head back to school, this contest gives them a unique opportunity to celebrate their colleagues and answer the question ‘what if teachers knew the impact that they have?’
“Educators have the ability to transform the lives of their students, colleagues and communities. This video truly shows how much of a difference one teacher can make,” said CEO and President of SMART, Greg Estell. “We’re committed to supporting, recognizing and celebrating teachers for the invaluable work they do and with this contest, educators have the chance to recognize an extraordinary colleague with the grand prize of classroom technology to further support and inspire their students.”
Hamlin, and all other teachers nominated for SMART’s #GiveGreatness Contest have a chance to win more than $40,000 in prizes. The contest, launched earlier this year, allows teachers the opportunity to nominate a deserving colleague who inspires greatness in their students, fellow educators or the school. The nominated teacher and their nominator will both be entered to win a classroom technology package for their classroom, with installation and implementation services, including training.
"At NorthPointe Christian Schools, our teachers pour their lives into our students, far beyond just helping them with academics, and we are so grateful to have Evelyn's devotion as a teacher recognized and celebrated by SMART Technologies," said Todd Tolsma, Head of Schools at NorthPointe Christian Schools.
Nominations for deserving educators can be submitted until September 25, 2018 at www.smarttech.com/givegreatness. The winning teacher and their nominator will each receive a classroom technology packages including SMART’s interactive displays, a SMART Learning Suite software subscription, Chomebooks, and more.
