The School District of Palm Beach County to Showcase its Teaching with Technology Trailblazer Program at FETC 2019

Students from Glades Central Community High School will present technology to transform learning in the SMART Technologies booth #319.

PALM BEACH, FL and CALGARY, AB – January 23, 2019 – As thousands of educators convene in Orlando, Florida to learn about the latest innovations for teaching and learning, The School District of Palm Beach County and SMART Technologies will come together to showcase best practices on how technology supports better learning outcomes. From January 28-30, 2019, teachers and students will present in the SMART Technologies booth #319 at the Orlando Convention Center.

Leveraging the funding provided by the penny sales tax passed in 2016, The School District of Palm Beach County implemented 1346 SMART Board interactive displays with SMART Learning Suite software this past year, with a goal to have up to 11,000 classrooms completed over the next two years. The School District of Palm Beach County also partnered with SMART to deliver professional learning opportunities to over 1,300 teachers, through a program called Teaching with Technology Trailblazers, to help support differentiate instruction to meet the various learning styles for students. Throughout the technology implementation, these Trailblazers will share best practices, lesson content and facilitate a professional learning network and community for other teachers in the district.

“The School District of Palm Beach County’s investment in SMART solutions and its collaborative implementation plan supports our strategic initiatives to provide effective instructional programming customized to individual strengths, needs and aspirations of each learner, and to provide digital and blended learning opportunities,” said Adam Miller, Director of Education Palm Beach County.

At FETC 2019, teachers and students from Glades Central Community High School will deliver presentations to illustrate how SMART solutions enhance a multitude of classroom lessons, subject areas and teaching approaches. Students will present digital content and methods for engagement and collaboration in classroom lessons. Glades Central students are using the opportunity at FETC to practice presentation skills and prepare for real-world business situations.

“The investment by The School District of Palm Beach County in professional learning and technology demonstrates firsthand the transformative education and leadership that is needed in our world today,” said Greg Estell, SMART Technologies President & CEO. “We look forward to continued progress and better learning outcomes to help students and the community for years to come.”
